Mrs. J

My name is Jawaunna Sharp, but most of my clients know me as Mrs. J. I graduated from Edgecombe Community College in Tarboro with my cosmetology license over 20 years ago, all while working a full-time job. Ever since graduation, I have lived, breathed, and enhanced my hair care skills. I honestly can’t see myself doing anything else. I continue to further my education by attending hair care and styling training often. I have been serving natural hair clients for the last 14 years. My passion for natural hair is one of my greatest motivations to continue to do what I do.

My Family

When first getting started in the hair care industry, I was a single mother of one child working a full-time job while going to school. If it wasn’t for my mom, I would have never been able to attend college. She took care of my daughter so I could work and obtain my certification. I now have 2 beautiful, young adult ladies who both have locs and I have an amazing son also. Additionally, I’m blessed to have a handsome grandson with locs as well. Fourteen years ago I married an amazing and brilliant man who has encouraged and supported my career every step of the way. It was because of him, I was able to pursue natural hair care full-time. 

My Clients

What I enjoy most is making my clients feel happy about their natural hair. The highlight of my day is creating a beautiful look for them which allows them to embrace their beautiful natural hair.

Mrs. J takes strict hygiene measures to ensure the safety of both her clients and other stylists around her, including thorough sanitization of tools and equipment between use and adherence to all local COVID-19 guidelines. Additional safety measures, such as providing hand sanitizer for use upon arrival, have also been implemented.
